Irish rugby fans are being hit hard in the pocket, with scalpers charging a shade under $5000 for tickets to this weekend's clash against England in Dublin.

With the Six Nations beginning this weekend, Ireland start their title defence with a home clash against their old enemy England at Aviva Stadium, with the match quickly selling out.

However, according to the Irish Times , scalpers have quickly gotten to work in making a quick buck for their troubles.

As tickets initially went on sale for $NZ191, re-selling websites are now advertising the same tickets for upwards of $NZ1666.

In some cases though, tickets are being advertised - and bought - for $NZ4500, according to the Irish Times.

The issue of ticket scalping in Ireland has lead to MP Noel Rock introducing a private member's bill to ban the practice of re-selling.
