A primary school student in the US who has been bullied for the last two years because his surname is Trump will be supported by school officials.
Joshua Trump’s parents raised their fears with staff at Talley Middle School in Delaware about their 11-year-old son’s safety last week.
He was eventually given a name change in the database so that it he be referred to as Berto, his father’s surname, rather than his mother’s surname.
The change came after Joshua was allowed to ride on a different school bus by Brandywine School District officials but students on that bus "inappropriately repeated his last name multiple times".
The incident on the bus was also addressed with the school providing social and emotional support to Joshua as well as mentoring.
