Watch: Russian postal drone smashes into side of building on its debut flight

April 4, 2018

A drone intended to transport parcels for Russia's postal service crashed just seconds after taking off on Tuesday (overnight NZT).

Local residents and officials watched in dismay as the drone hit a nearby building shortly after its launch in the Siberian city of Ulan-Ude.

A representative for the postal service told a local radio station they had been invited to the event as guests, and blamed the drone's manufacturer for the incident.

Andrey Nesterenko, the drone's developer, told local media the drone had experienced no failures in its 5000 hours of flying time.
