A new virtual health initiative created by the Waikato District Health Board will be investigated by the Government's top financial watchdog.
Multi-million dollar project, Smart Health, would allow patients to access to doctors via smartphones and tablets.
It was backed by disgraced Waikato Health boss, Nigel Murray, who used spending and travel inappropriately.
The probe will examine the process of buying the IT services from a US based company.
