Jacinda Ardern has laughed off her toilet debacle this year during a humorous adjournment speech to Parliament.
In February, a Wellington Plumber complained to the Pumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board when he read the then Deputy Leader of the Labour Party installed her own toilet, according to the NZME.
It is reportedly illegal to install a toilet in the suburb Ms Ardern lives in unless the work is completed by a plumber.
Making light of the situation when the Prime Minister summed up a year that was, she said, "I can say from a personal perspective that I have learned many many things in 2017".

"I have learned plumbing a toilet between an S trap and a P trap and why I should install neither, personally.
"I learned elections in this day and age can be a good, clean contest of ideas with the exception of a few holes.
"I've learned that in amongst election periods where we are all ultimately humans," she said.
"I learned that if you're ever a deputy to someone like Andrew Little, you should prepare for the unexpected and possibly run for the hills!"
The Prime Minster praised her team, as well as Andrew Little and went on to share the accomplishments the new Government have made and what that means to her.
