Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has given her Christmas message to the country: Stay safe and look out for others.
"My favourite part of Christmas is the time you get to spend with family and friends," she said to reporters today.

"I'm always aware there are a lot of people that are isolated at this time of the year. I really encourage people to reach out to people who may not have others around them at Christmas time."
Ms Ardern told Kiwis to "make sure we keep them in our thoughts".
