Rocket Lab set for second attempt at launching Electron test flight today

December 13, 2017

Rocket Lab are hoping to launch a test flight of their Electron rocket this afternoon, after fixing the problem that caused an aborted launch on Tuesday.

Today's launch is scheduled to take place no earlier than 2:30pm from the site in Mahia.

Rocket Lab yesterday tweeted that it was a "simple fix" that the rocket needed from Tuesday's aborted launch.

They say the launch was aborted after rising liquid nitrogen temperatures began feeding into one of the Electron's nine engines, causing the engine to shut down.

"The abort caused no damage to the vehicle or launchpad infrastructure, with the vehicle performing exactly as expected," Rocket Lab said in a statement.

Today's attempt will be the second for the Electron rocket.
