Jacinda Ardern turns secret Santa for one lucky Twitter user

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has sent one lucky Twitter user a secret Santa gift as part of an annual NZ Post promotion.

She tweeted a photo of her preparing the parcel to be sent off today with the caption: "Here we go, @nzsecretsanta is on the way!"

It's part of NZ Post's annual nationwide Secret Santa event, which has attracted nearly 4,000 participants.

The event sees people given a random Twitter user to buy a secret Santa present for.

The Prime Minister's photo on Twitter doesn't give away the gift she chose for the recipient of her present this year.
