Toa Samoa forward Sam Tagataese has spoken out about the recent clashes between Tonga and Toa Samoa league fans in Auckland, pleading with them to "respect each other."
The call comes as police issued a second warning to rugby league fans after another video of clashes between Tongan and Samoan fans in South Auckland emerged online overnight.
"From the players point of view as much as we love the game I call out to both fans of both nations just to show respect for each other.
"With us growing up, our culture, we've been taught respect and as both nations, as much as we respect each other on the field, we respect each other off the field as well," Tagataese told 1 NEWS.
Tagataese wants the game to be remembered for the action on the field when Tonga and Toa Samoa meet on Saturday night.
"I want the game to be remembered as a hard fought game between two nations who show pride for their country and definitely a clean game.
"It's a monumental moment for both nations playing here in Hamilton, New Zealand, where there is predominately Tongans and Samoans," he said.
While Tagataese said "the boys are very displeased" with some of the fans behaviour, they're happy to see the huge support for the team in New Zealand.
"The boys are very encouraged to see the support that is out there, it's pride it really uplifts the boys heading into the game," he said.
Toa Samoa play Tonga at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton at 7:30pm on Saturday.
