Waikato Police cracking down on selling 'drugs amongst other things' on Facebook

October 28, 2017

Waikato Police are calling for buy and sell pages on Faceebook to be "administered by the right and dedicated people" due to the "open selling of drugs amongst other things".

Taking to their Facebook page this morning, Waikato police labelled the pages as a "nightmare" and said they have received a large amount of information about drugs being listed for sale.

"I think we need to try and do something as a team," the Facebook post states.

"Let's get these larger pages administered by the right and dedicated people so we can nip things in the bud early."

Police asked the public for feedback on what pages they use and urged users to contact them if they "want to take up a role in administering the pages."

"Hopefully we can come up with a plan.

"If you are already administrating a page and want help get in touch also.

"Once we have a bit of a 'work group' we will set up a meeting and between us decide how we move forward."
