'He's responded well to treatment' - Chris Wood likely to return to EPL action after overcoming leg injury

October 27, 2017

All Whites and Burnley fans alike will be pleased to hear there's good news regarding Kiwi striker Chris Wood's recent hamstring injury after his Premier League manager announced he was being considered to play their next match.

Wood left the field just 20 minutes into Sunday's EPL match against Manchester City with the injury - Burnley went on to lose the match 3-0.

However, Burnley manager Sean Dyche said this morning Wood was "touch and go" to play in Tuesday's Premier League match against Newcastle.

"Woody has a chance, but he is touch and go for Monday," Dyche told the Burnley Express.

"He's responded well to treatment, and it's not a deep-seated problem, but we have to make sure with him."

The news is equally positive for New Zealand Football, with the All Whites in final preparations for their World Cup qualifiers against Peru next month.

The All Whites' first leg against the world no.10 side will be on November 11 in Wellington with the second leg played in Lima five days later.
