A 41-year-old man has been charged after hitting another car with a child inside during a police pursuit in Sydney over the weekend.

The pursuit began in Emerton, near Sydney's Mount Druitt, after a driver crashed into a fence following rugby league celebrations and allegedly failed to stop for police.

The chase moved to Laxford Rd, where CCTV footage captured the moment the Ford Ranger ploughed through an intersection and T-boned a vehicle containing a small child just after midnight on Sunday.

The suspect's vehicle clipped another car before rolling to a stop on its side in front of a residential home.

“Cops were chasing a vehicle, and it smashed right into me," the victim told 9News.

Police chasing the man quickly removed those in the other cars, including the child, who escaped serious injury.

The man was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for police pursuit, and would face court early next year.
