National Party leader Christopher Luxon and Labour Party leader Chris Hipkins faced off in the TVNZ Leaders Debate.

Jack Tame hosted the debate, which was followed by analysis presented by Tova O'Brien.

The debate came as a new 1News Verian poll tonight showed the right and left blocs are neck and neck, with Opportunity continuing to hold the balance of power.

Both Luxon and Hipkins would need their support to form a coalition. The Greens are also snapping at their heels, heading for 20 seats on current polling.

Tonight's debate was filmed in front of a live audience.

A panel of undecided voters shared their reactions in real time through interactive polling.
