National Party leader Christopher Luxon and Labour Party leader Chris Hipkins face off in the TVNZ Leaders Debate.

Jack Tame hosts the debate, broadcasting on TVNZ 1, TVNZ+ and here on 1News.co.nz from 7-8.30pm on Tuesday, followed by analysis.

The debate comes as a new 1News Verian poll tonight shows the right and left blocs are neck and neck, with Opportunity continuing to hold the balance of power.

Both Luxon and Hipkins would need their support to form a coalition. The Greens are also snapping at their heels, heading for 20 seats on current polling.

Tonight's debate will be filmed in front of a live audience.

Viewers will be able to share their reactions in real time through interactive features.
