A base jumper has taken a leap off a stalled development which will one day be Auckland's tallest residential building, a move slammed as "reckless" by police.

The person, dubbed “iliesnec” on social media, filmed themselves leaping from the 187m-high Seascape tower, a stalled residential development.

Video shows them leaping from the building before deploying a parachute and landing on Beach Road.

"First jump with the pilot chute stowed," they wrote in French on the post.

"Pure joy."

Police said it was aware of the video.

"Police are aware of a video circulating on social media showing a person base jumping off a building in Auckland’s CBD," a spokesperson said.

"Inquiries are ongoing to identify those involved, and whether they had authorisation to access the building jumped from.

"Police want to remind the public acts like these are reckless and pose a risk to not only the person jumping, but people on the ground."
