Rescue teams have retrieved two people who were stuck down a cliff in Auckland's Castor Bay this morning.
A police spokesperson said officers were notified of two people at the bottom of a cliff face at Castor Bay just before 5am.
"Emergency services attended and located the pair on the rocks," they said.
One person was transported to hospital in a serious condition, and the second person was uninjured.
Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the report were ongoing, the spokesperson said.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) spokesperson told 1News crews received an incident from ambulance reporting two people down a cliff at Castor Bay just before 5am.

FENZ deployed their specialist level three lines rescue team, and said it was working with police and ambulance crews.
Both patients have since been retrieved.
