A road in Christchurch is blocked this morning following a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.

Police said the crash on Ferry Rd between Charlesworth Street and Waterman Place in Woolston was reported around 5.30am.

"Injuries are reported. The Serious Crash Unit have been advised," a police spokesperson said.

Motorists were advised to avoid to area at this time.

St John has been contacted for comment.
