A person has died following a crash involving a pedestrian in Bay of Plenty last night.

Emergency services were called to Te Puke Highway near Manoeka Road in Te Puke at around 9pm.

The road was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

"Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash remain ongoing," police said.
