A British man has been jailed after a ham-fisted attempt to throw a package of drugs into a prison.
Thirty-year-old Joshua Smith was caught by police after a prison guard saw the drug-filled parcel fly over the wall at HMP Hull.
Smith was seen on CCTV footage making several failed attempts at the throw before finally managing to get the package over.
Detective Constable Heather Butler revealed that drugs weren't the only items that sailed over the wall, the BBC reported.
"The package was analysed leading to the discovery of an estimated £12,000 of drugs, including Class A drugs, and a mobile phone."
Butler went on to say it was a relief the parcel was immediately recovered before reaching inmates.
"Thankfully on this occasion the package was found almost instantly and never reached its intended destination.
"However, these drugs could have had catastrophic consequences."
Smith was sentenced to three years and eight months in jail at Hull Crown Court this week after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing.
He was charged with two counts of throwing a prohibited item into a prison.
