Bürgen is toast: Bread brand to leave New Zealand shelves

Bread brand Bürgen has announced it is leaving the New Zealand market.

Bread brand Bürgen has announced it is leaving the New Zealand market, farewelling Kiwi customers after years on supermarket shelves.

"For years, Bürgen has been part of Kiwi breakfasts, lunchboxes and everything in between. Now it’s time for us to say goodbye," the bread brand said in a post to Facebook on Sunday.

"We’re pretty gutted to be leaving, but mostly, we just want to say a huge thank you for having us at your table all these years."

The brand, owned by Australian manufacturer George Weston Foods, thanked customers for "sharing it with your whānau and making us part of everyday life".

George Weston Foods has been contacted for comment.
