A lucky kookaburra has had its life saved after being gripped by a snake hanging off the roof of a house in Queensland.
In a post to Facebook, Gladstone Region Snake Catchers described being called to the house to find a carpet python had captured a "nice winter feed" at the property in Clinton.
The snake catchers managed to free the kookaburra from the python's grip, but "weren't sure" if the bird was going to survive.
However, after a "few minutes" of holding the bird, it suddenly erupted in squawking and "took off in a hurry, flying into some bushland".
"It was obviously only semi-constricted and was also in shock until all of its senses kicked back in.
"A very lucky bird as it had only just been captured."
The post said the bird would have made a "decent meal for the snake" and "sustained it for a considerable amount of time", but added the snake "will find something else to dine on".
"The burra lives another day."
Users commenting on social media were mixed on the situation and result.
"Well that's not a happy outcome for the snake lol! He lost his meal," one user wrote.
"Thank you for saving the [kookaburra]," another said.
