CCTV footage has captured the extraordinary moment a car became airborne and became lodged into the side of a bus in Brisbane.
Footage from the intersection of Beaudesert Rd and Granard Rd in Archerfield showed the blue Yaris driving directly through the intersection and into the window of the bus around 6.30pm on Wednesday (local time).
"Looks like the guy had, you know, the pilot license and he had rushed to Archerfield Airport," witness Matt Hossein joked to 9News.
"That's a new advertisement. It's a 3D advertisement on the bus," he laughed.
Another witness Sohail Kamakli described the car as going "so fast".
"First time I [have seen] that sort of accident in my life, was quite dangerous, actually," he said.
Brisbane Councillor Tracy Davis said "we're just enormously grateful that the bus was going back to depot, and didn't have any passengers in it".
Queensland Police confirmed an infringement notice has been issued to the 45-year-old driver of the car following the collision, who was taken to hospital with chest pains.
Police also said a 66-year-old man driving a black SUV caused her to swerve out of control as he was merging.
He has been fined AU$690 (NZ$824).
The bus driver was unharmed.
