Person dies after two-vehicle crash in Springvale, Otago

Police were called to the two-vehicle crash on Springvale Rd, near Letts Gully Rd, around 9am.

One person has died following a two-vehicle crash in Springvale this morning.

Police were called to the two-vehicle crash on Springvale Rd, near Letts Gully Rd north of Alexandra, around 9am.

"Sadly, one person was located deceased at the scene," a police spokesperson said.

St John said it sent two ambulances and one operations manager to the scene.

"Two patients were treated at the scene, with one transported to Dunstan Hospital by ambulance in a moderate condition," a St John spokesperson said.

"A second patient was assessed and treated at the scene [in a] moderate condition, and they did not require transportation to hospital or a medical centre."

Fire and Emergency New Zealand also sent two trucks to the scene, from Clyde and Alexandra, to assist other emergency services.

Police said the road remained closed while the serious crash unit conducted a scene examination.

Motorists were advised to follow diversions and expect delays.
