Emergency Management and Recovery Minister Mark Mitchell was joined by Kaikōura Mayor Craig Mackle this afternoon to give an update on impacts from the severe weather that has hit the region this week.
Floodwaters in Kaikōura are receding and building inspections being carried out, the council said earlier.
Red severe weather warnings have lifted, however heavy rain watches are in place for parts of Otago, Canterbury and Marlborough.
