A person has been taken to hospital in a critical condition this morning after an incident outside the Nelson Police Station.
Emergency services were called to St John St at around 11.35am.
A police spokesperson did not provide 1News with specific details, but said officers were responding.
Hato Hone St John said it responded with a helicopter, an ambulance, an operations manager and a rapid response vehicle.
A person was taken to Nelson Hospital by ambulance in a critical condition.

Police said they were not seeking anybody in relation to the incident, but urged members of the public to avoid the area.
"There is not believed to be any threat to public safety."
The public can still report emergencies to 111 and other matters to 105.
