Body found in search for missing Christchurch woman

The 69-year-old was last seen on Monday 15 June leaving the Eastgate Mall around 1pm.

A body has been found by police this morning in the search for a missing woman in Christchurch.

Adele, 69, was last seen on Monday, June 15 leaving the Eastgate Mall around 1pm.

Detective Sergeant Luke Vaughan said police had located a woman's body at a property on Grayhurst Rd following extensive search efforts and information from the public.

"While formal identification is yet to be completed, the body is believed to be that of 69-year-old local woman Adele," Vaughan said.

“This is not the outcome we were hoping for, however we are pleased her family have received some closure."

Vaughan thanked members of the community for their assistance in the investigation, and highlighted the efforts of search crews throughout the past week.

The death would be referred to the coroner.
