'It's complicated': Brooklyn Beckham alludes to family feud in new ad

Brooklyn Beckham, 27, has featured in a new World Cup advert for the food delivery app DoorDash.

Sir David Beckham's eldest son Brooklyn has featured in a new World Cup advert for the food delivery app DoorDash that alludes to his feud with his parents.

The 27-year-old son of the football legend and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham made headlines in January following a bombshell statement admonishing his parents on Instagram.

David Beckham responded by saying "children are allowed to make mistakes" during an appearance on the CNBC show Squak Box, and spoke about the wider impact of social media.

The new 12-second advertisement featuring Beckham appeared to allude to the ongoing family dispute.

"You’re probably wondering why I'm watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home," he smirked in the commercial. "It's a long story."

The ad finishes with the text "It's complicated. More soon."

Some viewers have interpreted this as a dig to his family drama, with others online quick to criticise Beckham for capitalising off his family name and wider brand.

Over the weekend, the rest of the Beckham family including children Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 14, were in LA as their father was added to Hollywood's Walk of Fame.

Many honoured Beckham's commitment to the game, saying he "inspired generations around the world to watch and play the game".
