Police are continuing an extensive search in Christchurch's red zone for missing woman Rowena Walker.

The 39-year-old was last seen on August 14 when she was captured on CCTV in Bassett St in Burwood with an associate.

She was reported missing by her mother on October 22.

Detective Senior Sergeant Jo Carolan said police began searching the Christchurch red zone on April 22, which was identified as an "area of interest" in Walker's disappearance.

"Police have located a number of items following a search of the red zone," she said last week.

"We are now working to determine if these items are linked to Rowena."

Search and rescue staff, alongside speacialist search teams, would continue to carry out land, water and aerial searches in and around the red zone this week.

"Members of the public may see an increased police presence while we are in the area, including the use of a drone," a police spokesperson said today.

Police thanked members of the public for their assistance and encouraged anyone with relevant information to contact police via 105 using reference number 251022/9026.
