The Government is today announcing "targeted and temporary" support for some Kiwis as the war in Iran sends fuel prices skyrocketing.

Petrol and diesel have increased markedly in the wake of the US and Israel's actions against Iran, which started late last month.

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Finance Minister Nicola Willis are due to speak from around 12.30pm.
