A plane has landed safely in Auckland after pilots noticed a crack in the windscreen this morning.
Nathan McGraw, Air New Zealand chief operational safety and risk officer, said flight NZ5036 was on route from New Plymouth to Auckland when pilots noticed a crack in the plane's windscreen.
"The pilots followed standard operating procedure and reduced altitude as a precaution," he said.
Auckland Airport emergency services were notified at 10.15am when the aircraft reported the issue upon arrival.
The aircraft landed in Auckland without incident and with no impacts to other departing or arriving flights, a spokesperson said.
No injuries were reported.
"An aircraft windscreen is made up of layers of separate panes of glass which minimises the impact a crack in one layer poses to the integrity of the windscreen," McGraw said.
