At least 15 innocent people are dead and 40 others injured after a shooting at Bondi Beach, where hundreds of people were attending a Jewish celebration for the first day of Hanukkah.
Police say the shooters were a father aged 50 and his 24-year-old son. The father is the dead shooter and the younger man is in police custody and in critical condition.

Last-minute shoppers across the country scrambling to get presents under the tree should consider packing a raincoat, with heavy rain and strong winds forecast the week before Christmas.
"After a settled weekend, an active cold front has begun moving up the South Island today and approaches the North Island on Tuesday morning, bringing periods of heavy rain and strong northwesterlies, followed by a cooler unstable southwesterly flow," MetService said.

A passerby seen wrestling with and disarming one of the gunmen who opened fire at a crowd at Bondi Beach is being heralded as a hero as footage of the brave act circulates online.
The altercation sends the man who had previously held the gun staggering to the ground before he gets up and walks towards the carpark bridge overpass where another shooter was continuing to fire.
