Te Pāti Māori president John Tamihere has fired back over calls to resign – instead suggesting MPs Takuta Ferris and Mariameno Kapa-Kingi should throw in the towel.
He said the MPs' conduct is “not based on mana, is not based on integrity and honesty or on principle. Their conduct is based on greed, avarice and entitlement”.
Calls for Tamihere to resign came after a vote by party members to suspend Kapa-Kingi last month.
TVNZ reveals new 6pm news presenter as Simon Dallow steps down
Simon Dallow has spent nearly two decades as TVNZ’s news anchor, presenting during significant events including the 2011 Christchurch quakes, the city’s mosque attacks, the Covid pandemic and Cyclone Gabrielle.
TVNZ chief executive Jodi O’Donnell said he is an “exceptional journalist and presenter”, known for bringing professionalism, integrity and dedication to the role.
“His departure marks the end of an era for 1News at Six, and we are deeply grateful for his years of service," she said.
Andrew to be stripped of final military title at King's request
The British government is "working to remove" Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's final honorary military title at the request of King Charles III. UK Defence Secretary John Healey said King Charles had "indicated that's what he wishes".
Andrew, whose royal prince title was removed last week, had retained his rank as a vice-admiral in the Royal Navy after his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, stripped him of his other military ranks in 2022.
