Two people are unaccounted for and another two were taken to hospital after multiple fire crews were called to a house fire in Auckland overnight.
Emergency services were called to the Murvale Drive property in Bucklands Beach at around 2.30am.
"On arrival, they found a house well involved in fire," a Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said.
Detective Inspector Tofilau Faamanuia Va’aelua said that two people were "currently outstanding".
"We are working to establish what has occurred and urgently locate the people unaccounted for."
A St John spokesperson said two people were taken to Middlemore Hospital, one in a serious condition and one in a moderate condition.
A third person with minor injuries was treated at the scene but did not require transportation.
Five fire trucks, one command unit, and one support unit were at the scene fighting the blaze.
Footage from the scene showed the two-storey building totally engulfed in flames.

FENZ said the upper floor was "well involved in fire".
"Police and Fire and Emergency New Zealand are at the scene with an investigation underway," Va’aelua said.
A cordon was set up on Murvale Drive, between Janome Place and Jandell Crescent, and police would remain on scene.
At the same time, crews were also called to a commercial building on Lambie Drive in Papatoetoe.
The building's roof had caught fire, and four fire trucks, two ladder trucks, one command unit, and a support vehicle worked to extinguish it.
