1 Foreign buyers: Overseas investors allowed to buy homes worth over $5m
Overseas-based investors who hold a investor residence visa will now be allowed to buy a house in New Zealand, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has announced.
The visa offered residency to those who: Invested a minimum of $5 million into New Zealand; passed a good character test; and had acceptable health.
Luxon said the minimum value of a house that could be bought by the visa holders was $5 million, a price tag on less than 1% of New Zealand's housing supply.
2 Driver comes forward after near-miss with child caught on camera in Christchurch
The driver of an SUV involved in a near-miss with a child at a Christchurch intersection has come forward to police and been dealt with through "enforcement action".
The incident, captured on video and shared by police last week, showed the grey SUV turning right through a red arrow while a green pedestrian signal was active.
3 Jetstar fined $2.25 million for misleading New Zealand customers
Jetstar NZ has been fined $2.25 million in a "landmark case" for misleading customers over their compensation rights when flights are delayed or cancelled.
The sentence was delivered in the Auckland District Court this morning by Judge Brooke Gibson in what's been described as "one of the biggest penalties ever imposed" under the Fair Trading Act.
