Footage has been shared of a passenger plane being forced to pull up to avoid colliding with a private jet at Chicago's Midway Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the event took place around 9.45pm Tuesday NZT, when a FlexJet business jet "entered the runway without authorisation".
"The crew of Southwest Airlines Flight 2504 initiated a go-around when a business jet entered the runway without authorisation at Chicago Midway Airport," the agency said.
Video shared online of the incident shows the Southwest plane about to land before pulling back up as the other aircraft crossed the runway in front of it.
"Air Traffic controllers can be heard telling the business jet to hold short and not cross the runway, but the business jet did not follow instructions," a spokesperson for the FAA told ABC7.
A Southwest Airlines spokesperson told NBC Chicago the flight arriving from Omaha performed a "precautionary go-around to avoid a possible conflict with another aircraft that entered the runway".
The spokesperson said the flight then landed without incident and no injuries were reported.
