1 Major banks move to drop home loan rates after official cash rate cut to 4.25%

Major banks have dropped their home loan rates as the Reserve Bank again decides to cut the official cash rate.

The central bank's decision, which will be its final for 2024, to drop the OCR by 50 basis points (0.5%) will be passed on to borrowers as home loan rates are expected to drop.

2 Nearly 1500 more Health NZ roles face the axe, union says

Nearly 1500 more jobs may be cut at Health NZ - Te Whatu Ora, the public sector union says. The Public Service Association said about 700 of the roles to go were currently vacant because of a freeze on recruitment.

That was on top of more than 500 voluntary redundancies that had already been accepted.
