A person has been arrested after a girl was allegedly "indecently assaulted" in bushes at a South Auckland park last week.
According to police, the child was playing in Aronia Park in Goodwood Heights, Manukau at about 8pm on Friday when an unknown man approached her and offered to take her home.
She was then "indecently assaulted" by the man in nearby bushes, police said.
After the girl screamed for help, the man fled the scene, and a neighbour called police. At that time, officers were unable to find the man.
In a statement today, police said one person had been arrested in relation to the incident, and charges were being considered.
"We would like to thank those members of the public who came forward with information, leading to an arrest being made," Inspector Adam Pyne said.
