1 Eleven deported, $18m of cannabis seized in Auckland sting

Eleven Vietnamese nationals have been deported and cannabis valued at $18 million has been destroyed after police hit the operations of an organised crime group across Auckland last week.

Searches were carried out at 30 homes being used as "sophisticated indoor cannabis growing systems" across Counties Manukau, Auckland City, and Waitematā districts.

Approximately 3385 cannabis plants at various stages of growth and 48kg of dried cannabis – worth an estimated $18 million – were seized and destroyed.

England prop Joe Marler has described the All Blacks haka as "ridiculous" and that it "needs binning" ahead of the Test at Twickenham.

Marler made the comments on social media this morning.

"The Haka needs binning. It's ridiculous," he wrote on X.

3 Eleven-year-old killed in Melbourne school car crash named

A boy killed in a school crash tragedy has been identified as 11-year-old Jack Davey.

He was critically injured and died on the way to hospital after a car ploughed through a fence and into a schoolyard yesterday afternoon, hitting a group of children sitting at a table.

Four other students were seriously injured in the crash.

The 40-year-old driver had just collected her child from the school in Melbourne's east and attempted a U-turn when the crash happened.

4 Carving donated by iwi smashed at Auckland train station

Police are investigating the destruction of a carving gifted by mana whenua and displayed at Pukekohe Train Station.

In a Facebook post, the Franklin Local Board called the vandalism "upsetting and disrespectful".

Police said a report was first made on October 27 after the carving was smashed off its foundations.

5 Huge $30.2m Lotto Powerball jackpot still unclaimed

The $30.2 million prize from last Wednesday's Lotto Powerball draw has not yet been claimed.

One ticket won the mammoth jackpot last week. The winning ticket was sold at Albany Central Superette in Auckland.

"We have just had Labour weekend, so potentially our lucky winner may have gone on a trip and forgotten all about their ticket," Lotto NZ head of corporate communications Will Hine said.
