Happy To Report: A wrap of this week's good news

A loved-up lemur defies the odds, wearable art wows Wellington audiences, thoughtful parents pay it forward, and Auckland teens are crowned esports champions.

Lemur overcomes medical intervention

Zeus the lemur has done it again.

Living up to his name, the Wellington Zoo local has had a busy few years fathering 14 pups.

His new contraceptive implant was meant to put an end to that — but nonetheless, he's just become the father to another set of twins.

It's a welcome boost for the endangered species.

Wellington Zoo said on Facebook they aren't expecting any more babies at this stage, but "with Zeus ... you never know".

WOW brings a boost to Wellington

The Red Thread by Ian Bernhard for WOW’s 2024 show.

The 34th annual World of Wearable Arts show got underway this week.

The event brings tens of thousands of people together from around the world — which was exactly what Wellington needed.

WOW chief executive Meg Williams said the streets of Wellington were 'buzzing'.

"It's a creative energy, but it's also an energy of what happens when Wellingtonians welcome visitors. It's very special."

This year's 2024 WOW Show Dream Awake runs until 13 October at Wellington's TSB Arena.

Philanthropic parents give back

A rather wholesome trend is sweeping American social media.

Mums are anonymously leaving money for other mums inside baby products in supermarkets.

It began after one TikTok user shared a video of a sparkly purse left in the baby care aisle, symbolising the small sacrifices mothers make for their babies.

That video is now inspiring hundreds of people to pay it forward.

A small gesture with a big message.

Liam Dimock and Robbie Woolridge have finished first and second in the America's Cup E-Series.

It's a virtual yacht racing game developed by the America's Cup.

Robbie and Liam were two of eight finalists flown to Barcelona for the final.

Liam said his first-place win was the result of a lot of hard work and dedication.

"Super happy to take it on and super happy to represent the home country and homeland," he said.
