2 'I gave it everything' — Hayden Wilde on his epic triathlon finish
New Zealand's silver medallist in the men's triathlon, Hayden Wilde, has revealed what he said to one of his "biggest rivals" in the sport — gold medal winner Alex Yee — immediately following their Olympic race.
An incredible performance had Wilde, 26, in the gold medal position before being caught just 200m from the finish line by his old friend and rival Alex Yee of Britain.
Wilde told Breakfast he had enjoyed a burger with his family who had flown over to support him at the drama-filled race that was postponed due to water quality in the Seine.
3 Pylon collapse: Inexperienced workers were not supervised properly
Transpower says two less-experienced crew members were working on a base plate of a pylon in Northland when it fell and were not being supervised properly while completing the work.
At the time, Transpower said maintenance contractors removed too many nuts at the bottom of three legs of the power pylon that collapsed in Glorit on in June 20 and caused widespread outages across the Northland region.
Speaking to media today, Transpower acting chief executive John Clarke and grid delivery manager Mark Ryall said it was "committed to improving" following the release of an independent investigation's report into the incident.
4 UK police charge 17-year-old with murder over stabbing rampage
British police say they have charged a 17-year-old with murder over a stabbing attack that killed three children in Southport, northwest England.
The Merseyside Police force says the teenager, who has not been named because of his age, also faces 10 counts of attempted murder over people injured in the attack.
About two dozen children were attending a Taylor Swift-themed summer vacation workshop on Monday when an attacker with a knife burst in. Alice Dasilva Aguiar, 9, Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, and Bebe King, 6, died from their injuries. Ten other people were injured, among whom five girls and two adults are in critical condition.
