A child has been seriously injured following a collision involving a vehicle in Whakamārama this afternoon.
The collision at the intersection of Emeny Rd and Plummers Point Rd near Omokoroa No. 1 School was reported to police at 3.15pm on Tuesday.
"Police are in contact with the family," a spokesperson said.
The road is not reported to be blocked and police remain at the scene making further inquiries.
Hato Hone St John said they were notified of this incident in Whakamarama at 3.05pm, and responded with one ambulance and two rapid response units.

"One person was assessed at the scene and taken to Tauranga Hospital in a serious condition," said a St John spokesperson.
