One critically injured after crash involving pedestrian near Rotorua

One person has been critically injured after a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian near Rotorua this afternoon.

Police said the crash on Ngongotahā Rd near Taui St was reported around 1.50pm.

"The serious crash unit has been advised."

The road is blocked and diversions are being put in place at the intersections of Ngongotahā Rd, Western Rd, and Hood St.

Hato Hone St John said one patient has been airlifted to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition.

"One patient was assessed and treated in a minor condition at the scene," a spokesperson said.
