A gang tangi in Hawke's Bay is expected to cause traffic hold-ups this morning as a procession makes its way through Napier.
In a statement this morning, police said they would be monitoring the tangi and related hikoi as it travelled through the city.
The funeral was understood to be unrelated to the tangi for Central Hawke’s Bay Mongrel Mob president Sonny Smith, who died on Thursday.
Motorists could expect to see a large number of gang members and associates, particularly around the Maraenui, Marewa, Ahuriri and Park Island areas this morning, the police statement noted.
"We urge all those travelling on our roads to not act in a way that puts other road users at risk, and to expect delays.
"Any unlawful behaviour will be investigated and followed up with enforcement action."
Police advised anyone concerned about their safety in regards to the group, or who witnessed illegal behaviour happening at the time to call 111 immediately.
"To report, or send in any footage of the group causing concern, we encourage you to file a report online at 105.police.govt.nz, call Police on 105, or report anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111 or www.crimestoppers-nz.org"
