State Highway 6 in Hira, near Nelson, has reopened after a truck laden with hazardous chemicals crashed earlier this morning.
Police said the truck went off the road and collided with a barrier between Central Rd and Hori Bay Rd.
No injuries were reported and there was believed to be no damage to the truck's load.
Police said due to the position of the truck — which was hanging over the edge of the road — both lanes were closed while a heavy tow was arranged.
"The only alternative route is through St Arnaud."
In a statement at about 9am, police confirmed the road was clear again.
"We thank motorists for their patience."
