A serious crash in Northland's Waipu has left seven people injured, including children.
Two people are in a critical condition, while the remaining five are in conditions ranging from moderate to serious.
A number of the injured were rushed to Northland Base Hospital or Auckland City Hospital by ambulance and helicopter, while three were flown to Starship Hospital by helicopter.
The Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust said it had flown a boy in a serious condition to Starship, while Northland Rescue Helicopters had flown a child to the same hospital.
Police said the two-vehicle crash occurred at around 1.34pm on Cove Rd.
The road was closed but re-opened shortly before 5pm.
Meanwhile, one person has died after a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 1 and Apotu Rd in Kauri, also in Northland.
Police were notified about the crash at 3.13pm.
One person suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.
SH1 has now been closed and diversions are in place between Saleyards Rd and Vinegar Hill Rd.
"The serious crash unit will conduct a scene examination, and motorists are asked to avoid the area," police said.
