Firefighters have worked overnight to contain a 12-hectare vegetation fire just east of Auckland, in remote Kawakawa Bay.
The fire was reported around 1.05pm on Saturday, March 30 where six trucks alongside three water tankers and two helicopters were deployed, a Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson told 1News.
In an update on Sunday morning, FENZ said the fire was "fully contained" shortly before 3am.

"The fire reached a total size of 12 hectares," a spokesperson said.

FENZ confirmed further crews would be arriving today to continue to "mop up".
