Part of SH2 in Whakamārama closed after single-car crash

Part of State Highway 2 in Whakamārama is closed following a single-car crash this evening.

Emergency services were called to the scene near the intersection of Wainui South Rd around 7.45pm, police said.

One person has been seriously injured after they were ejected from the vehicle.

The southbound lane is closed while emergency services are at the scene.

"The highway remains open to northbound traffic, but anyone heading south is asked to avoid the area," police said.

The serious crash unit has been notified.
