1News expects Chlöe Swarbrick to announce she will run for the co-leadership of the Green Party at an 11am press conference tomorrow.
One co-leadership position has opened up following James Shaw’s announcement this week that he will be stepping down from the role he’d held for nearly a decade.
Swarbrick's name was quick to be mentioned as a possible replacement.
The Auckland Central MP told 1News yesterday she was speaking with caucus colleagues and friends about whether she should enter the race.
Earlier today, a Green Party spokesperson said Swarbrick would make an announcement tomorrow morning.
Nominations close on February 14, after which Green Party members would vote for their preferred candidate at local meetings.
Each local branch was entitled to a certain number of votes proportionate to the number of members who lived in that electorate.
The party has said it expected to announce its new co-leader on March 10.
