US girl group TLC cancel NZ, Aus shows

Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas have announced they won't be coming to New Zealand next month.

US girl group TLC have announced they'll no longer be bringing their CrazySexyCool tour to New Zealand or Australia next month.

The No Scrubs hitmakers were set to play their 30th Anniversary tour at The Trusts Arena in Auckland next month, but have pulled out "due to unforeseen circumstances".

In a social media post the band wrote: “We sincerely apologise for any disappointment to our fans. Your support means everything, and we promise to make it up to you. we can’t wait to be back in your beautiful countries soon.”

The group was going to perform selections from their 1994 Diamond-certified album 30 years after its release, plus some additional hits alongside special guests Busta Rhymes and En Vogue.

In a post on their official Instagram page, TLC confirmed all ticketholders would receive a full refund.

It's not the first time the band have disappointed Kiwi fans last minute, after a positive Covid test in their "core touring party" meant the group could not perform last November at Friday Jams Live.

Some Kiwis were quick to share their disappointment online, with one user commenting that they were "devastated".

Another user wrote: "This saddens me but I hope to see y'all [sic] again sometime, somewhere, this year".

The group hasn’t toured New Zealand since 2016.
