Person critically injured after Waikato 'animal incident'

One person has been airlifted to hospital in a critical condition after an 'incident involving an animal' in northern Waikato this afternoon.

Hato Hone St John told 1News they were called to the scene in Mangatangi, 10km west of Miranda, around 3.50pm.

An ambulance, a helicopter and three other vehicles responded to the incident.

The patient was airlifted to Auckland Hospital in a critical condition.
